Welcome to the Goodreads Kindle group webring
What is a Web Ring?
Lazy answer : Wiki Link
Less Lazy Answer : A way of joining web sites with a common interest, that will increase traffic to all sites in the ring. Now, the Wiki will tell you they were popular in the 1990's (so was I), but have fallen out of use (so have I). This was indeed true, but with the huge explosion of web sites and the commercialisation of the search engines, web rings are making a come back.
Webrings increase site traffic and increase your search engine rating.
How Does it Work?
To be a part of the webring, each site has a common navigation bar; it contains links to the previous and next site. By clicking next (or previous) repeatedly, the surfer will eventually reach the site they started at; this is the origin of the term webring. Our webring will also have a 'Random' button for the adventurous, and a 'list' button where you can see all ring members.
To make sure the ring works how it should, there is a central control unit (here) that ensures that if someone leaves the ring, it doesn't fail.
Who is it for?
This ring is for anyone with a web site or blog who is an active member of the Goodreads UK Kindle Group
How do I join?
You will have to put some simple information in about your web site in order to register. Then you can go and get the HTML for the navigator.
You need to put the HTML on your website or blog on the home page, preferably near the top of the page. Once this is done a ring administrator will visit your blog/site and check it works. Then your site will be activated.
If you have a Website or Blog and want to join the ring go here.
If you want to try the ring and use it to visit our group members web sites and blogs go here
If the ring takes off I might create
sub-rings for different book genres etc. This is a work in progress and I will
let it grow with you.
